Materials
Small amount worsted weight yarn, (Yellow or White, Orange or Yellow)
Crochet hook, size E
Finishing Materials
Small Plastic eye
Glue
1/3 yard narrow ribbon
Tapestry needle
Magnet
Finished Size: 4" T
Gauge: Not important to overall size.
Skill Level: Medium
Special Stitches:
Dc Dec: (Yo, insert hook in indicated st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) as many times as stated, yo, draw through all lps on hook to complete the st.
Head: (Using yellow or white)
Rnd 1) Ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st in 4th ch of beg ch 4: 12 dc. Fasten off, leaving a 6" tail to sew to body.
Body & Tail: (Using yellow or white)
Rnd 1) Ch 5; (17 trc) in 5th ch from hook (first 4 chs skipped count as first trc); join with a sl st in 5th ch of beg ch 5; (18 trc), sl st in next trc, ch 2, dc dec over same st and next trc see special sts (tail made). Fasten off, secure ends.
Finishing:
Sk next 3 trc on body from tail, using 6" tail from head, thread tapestry needle and sew head onto body through back loops of next 3 trc on body and corresponding 3 dc on head. Weave in end.
Legs: (Using orange or yellow)
Right side facing, sk next 4 trc on body from head, join yarn to next trc; * ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch, (ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in same ch on beg ch 5) twice, sl st in last 2 chs of beg ch 5, sl st in same st on body, * sl st in next trc on body; rep from * to * once. Fasten off, secure ends.
Beak: (Using orange or yellow)
Sk next 6 dc on head from where head and body are joined, right side facing, join yarn to next dc; ch 1, sc in same st. Fasten off, secure ends.
Finishing:
Glue eye to head where desired and attach magnet to back. Tie ribbon into a bow and glue to neck of chick.
