That seemed like a long wait for 1 row, huh? The joys of designing, sometimes, you just never know how these patterns will turn out. After trying several stitches and more, I felt the fan truly only needed one more row! *lol*

Next week, on the 26th, we'll be molding the fan, and then on the 28th, decorating. Here's what you need.

Decide which fabric stiffener may be best for you in your climate and area. If you read "About Stiffeners", there are tips for shaping your piece to help you plan ahead.

Rust proof pins should be available from your local yardage shop.

Plastic wrap can include household food wrap, garbage bags, produce bags etc. Whatever you happen to have on hand!

A template is always nice to ensure you shape your piece evenly. There are 2 templates provided on the site at the above link. Just click on "Shaping/Blocking".

Until Monday ... enjoy!

It's time to shape our fan!

Preparing to mold Preparing to mold your fan, you should have a surface such as cardboard, a styrofoam piece, or ironing board available. Printing the 12 section chart from my site, I placed it on top of my preferred work surface and covered it with ordinary kitchen plastic wrap. I pinned the wrap in place using T-pins.

Shaping the fan After deciding which stiffener to use, it's time to shape the fan. Place the fan on top of the prepared work surface and gently stretched to shape. Using the guidelines, gently stretch the fan ensuring all points are equal. After pinning in several places so the fan is even, pin each shell on the final row so they will stand out once dried. Always use rust proof pins. Let dry.

Materials to have on hand before Wednesday, March 28th:

On Wed. we'll be decorating the fan together... see ya then!

Crochet-A-Long Fan After assembling materials, the ruffled lace is glued into place aligning edges along the bottom of the fan. Be sure the lace is folded under so no raw edges are showing. Next, tie the wide ribbon in a large bow and glue to center bottom of fan. Glue large flower to top of bow. Glue smaller flowers to each side and tuck pearls in as desired. Clip narrow ribbon into 3 pieces and glue ends just under the large flower to extend below the fan.
