Materials:
Small amt. worsted weight yarn (4 ply) (White)
Small amt. worsted weight yarn (4 ply) contrasting color (CC)
Crochet hook, size G

Finishing Materals:
Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
Small amt. of fabric, for liner
Sewing machine
Sewing needle & thread
Potpourri
1/3-yard (1/4" wide) ribbon
Glue or needle & thread

Finished Size: 5" x 5"
Gauge: 2 rows = 1 1/2"

Sachet Front & Back: (Using White)
Pattern Increase:
Row 1) Ch 6; dc in 4th ch from hook (3 beg skipped chain counts as a ch 3 space now and throughout, mark with a marker for stitch placement in next row), dc in last 2 chs: 3 dc, 1 block.

Row 2) Ch 6, turn work; dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 chs (beg. shell made), twist last block up from preceding row, skip next 3 dc, and in next ch 3 sp (marked st), work (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space (block made): 2 blocks.

Row 3) Ch 6, turn work; dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 chs, twist last block up from preceding row; * skip next 3 dc, in next ch 3 space work (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space; repeat from * once: 3 blocks.

Row 4) Ch 6, turn work; dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 chs, twist last block up from preceding row; * skip next 3 dc, in next ch 3 space work (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space; repeat from * twice: 4 blocks.

Row 5) Ch 6, turn work; dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 chs, twist last block up from preceding row; * skip next 3 dc, in next ch 3 space work (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space; repeat from * 3 times: 5 blocks.

Pattern Decrease:
Row 6) Ch 1, turn work, slip st in next 3 dc and in next ch 3 space; (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space (beg dec block made), slip st in next ch 3 space; * (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip st in next ch 3 space; repeat from * across: 4 blocks.

Row 7) Ch 1, turn work, slip st in next 3 dc and in next ch 3 space; (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip st in next ch 3 space; * (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip st in next ch 3 space; repeat from * once: 3 blocks.

Row 8) Ch 1, turn work, slip st in next 3 dc and in next ch 3 space; (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip st in next ch 3 space, (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip; st in next ch 3 space: 2 blocks.

Row 9) Ch 1, turn work, slip st in next 3 dc and in next ch 3 space; (ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, slip st in next ch 3 space: 1 block. Fasten off; secure ends.

Half Diagonal Pouch: (Using White)
Rows 1-5) Repeat instructions for Rows 1-5 for Sachet. Fasten off; secure ends.

Joining & Edging: (Using CC)
Rnd 1) With both the front and back held together, place the half pouch over one end of sachet, matching corners and stitches; Join CC to the corner st on end of half diagonal and through the corner stitches of both front and back with a slip st; Ch 1, sc in same st, through all thicknesses; * ch 2, sc in between next 2 blocks, through all thicknesses; repeat from * around, working a sc in each corner stitch and between blocks, when 3 sides have been joined, insert sachet pouch (see below) and finish closing; join with a slip st in first sc.

Rnd 2) Slip st in ch 2 space; Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in same space; * (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in next ch 2 space; repeat from * around, working a hanging loop in top of sachet (pouch will be located at bottom with opening in the center), by working a ch 10 between sc placed in each ch 2 space (the hanging loop is optional); join with a slip st in first sc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Sachet Insert:
Using crocheted front or back as a pattern, cut two pieces of fabric, allowing 1/4" seam allowance. With rights sides together, sew seam leaving a 2" opening for turning. Clip corners and turn right side out. Fill with potpourri and sew opening closed.

Finishing:
Tie ribbon into a bow and either glue or tack to top of sachet. Place a small bottle of perfume in pouch to give as a gift, or place a small flocked bunny or jewelry inside.

Variation: Turn sachet into a pin cushion by stuffing with polyester fiber fill. The pocket can be used for store thimble or small scissors.
