Materials:
2 4-ply Red Heart Super Saver Skeins (Christmas Green, Christmas Red or White)
Sm amt 4 ply worsted weight yarn (Yellow)
Crochet hook size J & E
Finished Size: (I would appreciate someone posting the size to me).
Gauge: 2 rows = 1 1/2"
Skill Level: Medium
Special Stitches:
Puff St: yo, insert hook in same st, pull up a lp, yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through last 5 lps on hook to complete the st.
Skirt: (Using J hook) (holding two strands of yarn together)
Row 1) Ch 32; dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc), dc in next 3 ch; * (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch, dc in next 3 ch; rep from * across, (2 dc) in last ch: 7 panels of 3 dc/6 ch 2-sps.
Rows 2-16) Ch 3, turn work (counts as first dc); dc in first st; * dc in next dc across panel, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 2 sp; rep from * across, dc in dc across last panel, (2 dc) in last dc: 7 panels of (5 dc)(7 dc)(9 dc)(11 dc)(13 dc)(15 dc)(17 dc)(19 dc)(21 dc)(23 dc)(25 dc)(27 dc)(29 dc)(31 dc)(33 dc)/6 ch 2-sps.
Note: Panels on each end will have a final count of 14 dc and panels in center will have a final count of 13 dc on last row.
Row 17) Working off each panel separately: join yarn to first dc on end of first panel with a sl st; ch 3, dc in each dc across.
Rows18-19) Ch 1, turn work; sl st over to 3rd dc; ch 3, dc in each dc across, leaving last 2 dc unworked.
Row 20) Ch 1, turn work; sl st over to 4th dc, ch 3, dc in each dc across, leaving last 3 dc unworked.
Row 21) Ch 1, turn work; sl st over to 5th dc, ch 3, dc in each dc across, leaving last 4 dc unworked. Fasten off; secure ends.
Rem Panels:
Row 17) Join yarn to first dc on end of next panel with a sl st; ch 3, dc in each dc across.
Rows 18-21) Rep rows 18-21 for first panel.
Continue until all 7 panels are worked off.
Poinsettias: (Using E hook) (Make 7)
Rnd 1) Ch 2; (8 sc) in 2nd chain from hook; join with a sl st in first sc: 8 sc.
Rnd 2) Ch 2, hdc in next sc, ch 1; * Puff st see special sts, ch 1; rep from * around; sk first ch 2, join with a sl st to top of hdc: 8 puff sts. Fasten off, secure ends.
Poinsettia Petals: (Using Christmas Red)
Row 1) Working each petal separately: right side facing, join yarn in last st worked; ch 1, sc in joining, sc in next ch 1 sp: 2 sc.
Row 2) Ch 1, turn work; (2 sc) in first st, (2 sc) in next sc: 4 sc.
Row 3) Ch 1, turn work; (2 sc) in joining, sc in next 2 sc, (2 sc) in last sc: 6 sc.
Row 4) Ch 1, turn work; (2 sc) in joining, sc in next 4 sc, (2 sc) in last sc: 8 sc.
Row 5) Ch 1, turn work; sk first st, sc in next 6 sc, leaving last sc unworked: 6 sc.
Row 6) Ch 1, turn work; (2 sc) in joining, sc in next 3 sc, (2 sc) in next sc: 7 sc.
Row 7) Ch 1, turn work; sk first st, sc in next 4 sc: 4 sc.
Row 8) Ch 1, turn work; sk first st, sc in next sc, (2 sc) in next sc: 3 sc.
Row 9) Ch 1, turn work; sk first st, (2 sc) in next sc: 2 sc. Fasten off, secure ends.
Remaining Poinsettia Petals: (Using Christmas Red)
Row 1) Right side facing, join yarn to next sc, next to last st worked on row 1 of petals; ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next ch 1 sp: 2 sc.
Rows 2-9) Rep rows 2-9 of Poinsettia Petals until all petals have been worked: 8 petals.
Finishing:
Join Poinsettias to tree skirt on each scallop as shown in photo using yarn. Clip yellow yarn into approx. 8" lengths. Pull ends through the tree skirt and through opposite sides of poinsettia center. Tie into bows and clip ends to desired length. Repeat for each poinsettia and panel of skirt.
