Stocking:
Rnd 1) Ch 4, (2 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc), ch 3; (3 dc, ch 3) 3 times in same ch; join with a sl st to 4th ch of beg ch 4: 12 dc/4 ch 3-sps.
Rnd 2) Sl st in next sp; beg shell in same sp see special sts, ch 1, shell in next sp see special sts, ch 1, shell in next sp, (2 dc) in next dc, (3 dc) in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc, shell in next sp, ch 1; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3: 4 shells/3 ch 1-sps.

Joining & Edging: (Using another color if desired)
Rnd 1) With right side facing, join yarn in next sp from joining with a sl st; ch 1, sc in same sp, (working across the top of stocking) (sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp) 3 times, fold stocking in half with right sides facing out, solid crochet side will be the at the bottom creating the toe, (working through both sides to join), sc in same sp through both sides of stocking, ch 10 (hanger), sc in same sp, through both sides, (sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp) 3 times, (2 sc) in same sp at heel, sc in next 14 sts, through both sides. Fasten off, secure ends.
