Shell: work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in indicated st.

Coaster: (Using white)

Ch 8; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next ch; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 16 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3, (2 dc) in next dc; * dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc. Fasten off, secure ends.

Rnd 3) Join variegated yarn to any dc on rnd 2 with a sl st; beg shell in joining see special sts, sk next st; * shell in next st see special sts, sk next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first st: 12 shells.

Rnd 4 Sl st in next ch 2 sp; (ch 1, sc, ch 2, dc, 2 trc) in same sp; * (sc, ch 2, dc, 2 trc) in next ch 2 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first st: 12 scallops. Fasten off, secure ends.
