Fall Leaves

Materials:
Sm amt 4 ply worsted weight yarn (Autumn colors)
Crochet hook, size F
Finishing Materials:
Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
Sm piece of raffia
Plastic berry
Finished Size: 3 1/4" from top to stem (Thank you Jeannie!)
Gauge: Not important to over all size
Leaves: (Make two or three in different colors)
Row 1) Ch 9, sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, (5 sc) in last ch, working up opposite side of foundation ch (beg ch) in free lps, sc in next 4 ch: 15 sc.
Row 2) Ch 1, turn work, sl st in first 2 sc; ch 1, hdc in same st, sc in next 4 sc, (3 sc) in next sc (stem end), sc in next 5 sc, hdc in next sc: 14 sts
Row 3) Ch 1, turn work, sl st in first 3 sts; ch 1, (2 hdc) in same st, sc in next 4 sts, (3 dc) in next st (stem end), sc in next 5 sts: 14 sts.
Row 4) Ch 1, turn work, sl st around to center dc (7 sts) (stem end), ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 ch, sl st in same st on leaf. Fasten off; secure ends.
Finishing:
Place one leaf on top of another at an angle as shown in picture. If more than two leaves are made, continue to stack leaves at angles. Unroll a raffia piece and cut to desired size. Retwist around center and tie around all the stems to secure leaves together, inserting berry before tying. Untwise rafia on each side of the tie.
Options:
Create fridgies by placing a magnet on the back of the grouping. Work up in thread to create a pin, using a safety pin on the back for pinning to clothing. These leaves can also be worked into a fall wreath, appliqued to linens worked either in yarn or thread. The ideas are endless!
