Back Board:
Using your own preference in making a back board you can choose from needlepoint plastic mesh as I did and work up your own design. I worked a diagonal st in every 3 sps as allowed, but you can work traditional or basic needlepoint stitches, long stitches or one of your favorites. Other choices include working up a back board in polymar clay, wood, or cardboard. If using cardboard it can be covered with your preference of felt, foam, fabric with embroidery, or even quilted fabric. The choices are endless so use your imagination.
Joining hoop to back board:
Once you've prepared the back board, the hoop will need to be joined. Joining will greatly depend on the back board you've prepared. If you have used wood or polymer clay, glue the hoop in place. If you used cardboard or needelpoint canvas you can use yarn to tie the hoop in place. Thread a tapestry needle with white yarn and pull both ends through the backboard, once it's wrapped around the top of the hoop. Tie in a double knot and then properly end off.
