1/2-yd (3/8" W) Christmas plaid ribbon
1/2-yd (3/8" W) Christmas solid ribbon (optional)
Additional berries or foliage as desired

Cover:
Ch 8; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1) Ch 3 (counts as first dc); (23 dc) in ring; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 2) (ch 4, dc, ch 1, dc) in joining, sk next 2 dc; * (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of group (3rd ch of beg ch 4): 8 groups of 3 dc.
Rnd 3) Sl st over to center dc of same group; (ch 4, dc, ch 1, dc) in same st, ch 3; * (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in center dc of next group, ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of group: 8 groups/8 ch 3-sps.
Rnd 4) Sl st over to center dc of same group; (ch 4, dc, ch 1, dc) in same st, ch 2, sc in next ch 3 sp, ch 2; * (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in center dc of next group, ch 2, sc in next ch 3 sp, ch 2; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of group: 8 groups/16 ch 2-sps.

Finishing:
Place cover over a Christmas ball and weave ribbon through eyelet rnd and draw up cover around the top of the ball. Tie ribbon into a bow and trim ends. Trim with a larger bow if desired or with roses etc as desired.
