Materials:
1 Skein ea Peaches & Crème ™ 4-ply WW cotton yarn (5 oz) red, white, green
Aluminum hook size G (4.25 mm)

Finished Size: 4 1/4" in dia (yarn ball)
Gauge: Not important to over all size

Skill Level: Intermediate

Special Stitches:

Beg Shell: (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated st.

Shell: (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated st.

Hotpad Front:

With red, ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1) Ch 6 (counts as first dc plus ch 3), (dc, ch 3) 5 times in ring; join with a sl st to first dc (3rd ch of beg ch 6): 6 dc/6 ch 3-sps.

Rnd 2) Sl st in next sp; ch 1, (sc, 5 dc, sc) in same sp; * (sc, 5 dc, sc) in next ch 3 sp; rep from * around; do not join: 6 petals with 2 sc & 5 dc ea.

Rnd 3) Ch 1, sc around corresponding dc on rnd 1, ch 5; * sc around next dc post on rnd 1, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 6 ch 5-sps.

Rnd 4) Sl st in next sp; ch 1, (sc, 7 dc, sc) in same sp; * (sc, 7 dc, sc) in next ch 5 sp; rep from * around; do not join: 6 petals with 2 sc & 7 dc ea.

Rnd 5) Ch 1, sc around corresponding dc on rnd 1, ch 7; * sc around next dc post on rnd 1, ch 7; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 6 ch 7-sps.

Rnd 6) Sl st in next sp; ch 1, (sc, 9 dc, sc) in same sp; * (sc, 9 dc, sc) in next ch 7 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 6 petals with 2 sc & 9 dc ea. Fasten off; secure ends.

Rnd 7) Join white bet any 2 sc (bet last petals) with a sl st; ch 6 (counts as first sc plus ch 5); * sc bet next 2 sc, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 6 ch 5-sps.

Rnd 8) Sl st in next sp; beg shell in same sp see special sts, ch 3; * shell in next ch 5 sp see special sts, ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 6 shells/6 ch 3-sps.

Rnd 9) Sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, shell in next ch 3 sp; * shell in next shell sp, shell in next ch 3 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 12 shells.

Rnd 10) Sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, ch 1; * shell in next shell sp, ch 1; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 12 shells/12 ch 1-sps. Fasten off; secure ends. Mark this side as RS of work.

Hotpad Back:

Rnd 1) With white, ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 3): 12 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3, dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.

Rnd 3) Beg shell in joining, ch 3, sk next 3 dc; * shell in next dc, ch 3, sk next 3 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 6 shells/6 ch 3-sps.

Rnds 4-5) Rep rnds 9 & 10 for hotpad front.

Joining & Edging: (Using green)

Rnd 1) Holding both front and back together with RS facing out; join yarn to any ch 1 sp working through both sides to join with a sl st; ch 1, sc in joining, (7 dc) in next shell sp through both sides; * sc in next ch 1 sp through both side, (7 dc) in next shell sp through both sides; rep from * around until last ch 1 sp, (sc, ch 15, sc) (hanging loop formed), (7 dc) in last shell sp; join with a sl st in first sc: 84 dc. Fasten off; secure ends.
