2 skeins Peaches & Crème ™ 4-ply WW cotton yarn (56.7 g / 2.0 oz) camel or beige
or 2 skeins Sugar and Cream
1 skein Peaches & Crème ™ 8-ply Double WW cotton yarn (teal blue) #20 (5 oz)
or 2 skeins Sugar and Cream or 2 skeins 4-ply Peaches & Creme
Aluminum hook size J/10 (6.00 mm)

Designer Note: When using 4-ply (single), hold two strands together throughout work. When using 8-ply (double), use just one strand for work.
Basket: (Using camel or beige) (Hold two strands held together)
Rnd 1) Starting at bottom: ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc.
Rnd 2) Ch 3, dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 3) Ch 3, (2 dc) in next dc; * dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 36 dc.
Rnd 4) Starting up sides: (working in back lps this rnd only); ch 1, sc in joining; * sc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 36 sc.
Rnds 5-7) Ch 1; sc in joining; * sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 36 sc. Fasten off; secure ends.
Diamond Embroidery Trim: (Using teal)
Thread large tapestry needle with yarn. Using Chart A, pull threaded needle from inside the basket to the outside bet any 2 sts on rnd 5 (point A), insert needle bet next 2 sts on rnd 6 angled from point A (point B), and then pull needle up from inside the basket bet corresponding sts on rnd 5 beneath point B (point C). Continue working the cross stitch pattern around the sides of basket, repeating stitches, points B and C, ending at point B. (Do not end off).
Designer note: Each square in the charts belowe reflect one (1) single crochet st. Work between the stitches following the dark lines and instruction above.
Chart A
Using Chart B finish the cross stitch technique by pulling needle up from inside the basket at (point A) and then back down at (point B) bet next 2 sts on rnd 5 angled from point A, and then pull needle from inside the basket bet correspoinding sts on rnd 6 above point B (point C). Continue working the cross stitch pattern around the sides of basket, repeating stitches, points B and C, ending with Point B at (point A). Fasten off; secure ends.
Chart B
Top & Bottom Embroidery Trim: (Using teal)
Thread large tapestry needle with yarn. Sew around the top sts on rnd 7 of basket by inserting needle through the sc, to the outside of basket and then up and over, inserting needle from the inside of the basket, through the next sc, to the outside of basket. Continue working around the basket top until finished. Fasten off; secure ends.
Repeat same technique for sewing around the bottom of basket in unworked front lps on row 3.
Coasters: (Make 4) (Using teal)
Rnd 1) Ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc; join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc.
Rnd 2) Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in joining; * (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 3-sps/24 sc.
Rnd 3) Sl st in ch 3 sp; ch 1, (3 sc) in same sp; * (3 sc) in next ch 3 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 36 sc. Fasten off; secure ends.
Coaster Trim: (Using camel or beige) (Hold two strands held together)
Thread large tapestry needle with yarn and work a running stitch (weaving) through top of stitches bet rnds 1 & 2. Fasten off; secure ends.
Finishing:
Insert a used CD inside the basket bottom and place coasters inside. The CD is optional but provides added stability to the set.
