Free Star Spangled Napkin Ring

Materials:
Sm amt 4-ply WW yarn (red, white, or blue)
Crochet hook size I (for model) (your preference)
Finished Size: Not important
Gauge: Not important to over all size
Skill Level: Easy - Intermediate

Instructions:
Rnd 1) Ch 2; (sc, dc, ch 1, sl st in top of dc) 5 times in 2nd ch from hook; join with a sl st to first sc: 5 points/5 sc (1 star).
Rnd 2) Ch 3; (sc, dc, ch 1, sl st in top of dc) 5 times in 2nd ch from hook; join with a sl st in first sc: 5 pointes/5 sc (1 star).
Rnds 3-5) Rep rnd 2. At end of last star; join with al st in back of first star to dc post to form a "ring" ensuring the stars are not twisted. Fasten off; secure ends.
Finishing:
Gently "pull" the points of each star to better hightlight. Your project can be sprayed with water and blocked, if desired.
Options:
1) Make napkin rings in all 3 colors for a true patriotic theme.
2) Make napkin rings in white with silver or gold filagree for a holiday theme.
3) Make a garland instead and continue adding stars for desired length. Do not join to first star made.
4) Work up a larger ring and use to embellish plant pots, lampshades or desired object.
