Candle Holder:
Rnd 1) Starting at bottom: ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc: 12 dc.
Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 3) Ch 3, (2 dc) in next dc; * dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 36 dc.
Rnd 4) Starting up sides: ch 1, (sc, dc, ch 1, dc) in joining; * sk next 2 dc, (sc, dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc; rep around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 1-sps.
Rnd 5) Ch 1, turn work; * (sc, dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 1-sps.
Rnds 6-8) Rep rnd 5 alternating working on wrong and right sides of candle holder, finishing work on the right side (outside of candle holder). Fasten off; secure ends.
Skirt:
Rnd 1) Holding work upside down with bottom of candle holder facing, join thread to first unworked dc bet groups worked on rnd 4 with a sl st; (ch 4, dc, sc) in joining; * [(dc, ch 1, dc, sc) in next unworked dc] twice, sk next unworked dc, (dc, ch 1, dc, sc) in next unworked dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4: 18 ch 1-sps.
Rnd 2) Ch 1, turn work (right side facing); * (sc, dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 18 ch 1-sps. Fasten off; secure ends.
Finishing:
Slip glass votive into cover. Leave as is, or decorate as desired by using ribbon and fabric flowers.
