Soft Cabled Hat Pattern

Special Stitches:
Dc Dec: (yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) as many times as stated, yo, draw through all lps on hook to complete the st.

Note: For larger or smaller sizes, adjust hook size. Additional rows of pattern rep can be added for length.
Slipper: (Using Bernat Softee yarn & size H hook) (Make 2)
Rnd 1) Starting at toe: ch 4, (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc: 12 sc.
Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 3) Ch 3; * dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 4) Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, (2 dc) in next dc; * dc in next 5 dc, (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 28 dc.
Rnd 5) (Working in back lps only this rnd); ch 3; * dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 28 dc.
Rnd 6) Ch 1, (sc, dc) in joining, sk next dc; * (sc, dc) in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 14 sc/14 dc.
Rnds 7-14) Ch 1, (sc, dc) in joining, sk next dc; * (sc, dc) in next sc, sk next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 14 sc/14 dc.
Row 15) Starting heel section: ch 3, dc in next 17 dc leaving remaining 10 sts unworked: 18 dc.
Rows 16-18) Ch 3, turn work; dc in next 17 dc: 18 dc.
Row 19) Ch 3, turn work; dc in next 5 dc, (dc dec over next 2 sts) 3 times see special sts, dc in last 6 dc: 15 sts.
Rnd 20) Sl st over dc post on end of last row; ch 3, dc over same dc post, working down the heel, (2 dc over next dc post) 4 times, working over unworked sts on rnd 14, sc in back lp of next 10 sts, working over dc posts on opposite side of heel, (2 dc over next dc post) 5 times; join with a sl st to first dc (3rd ch of beg ch 3) to join top: 30 sts.
Rnd 21) Ch 1, (sc, 2 dc) in joining, sk next 2 sts; * (sc, 2 dc) in next st, sk next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 10 sc/20 dc.
Rnd 22) Ch 1, (sc, 2 dc) in joining, sk next 2 dc; * (sc, 2 dc) in next sc, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 10 sc/20 dc. Fasten off, leaving an 8-inch tail.
Finishing Heel:
Thread tapestry needle with 8-inch tail and sew heel together on the wrong side. Repeat for opposite slipper.
Toe Trim: (Using Fun Fur & size E hook)
Row 1) Join yarn with a sl st to unworked front lp on rnd 4 at side of slipper; ch 1, (2 sc) in same st; (2 sc in next st) across top of toe starting and ending where desired. Fasten off; weave in ends.
Slipper Trim: (Using Fun Fur & size E hook)
Row 1) Join yarn with a sl st to unworked front lp on rnd 14 at top of slipper; ch 1, (2 sc) in same st; (2 sc in next st) 9 times. Fasten off; secure ends.
