Stuffed Apple!

Materials:
Sm amts 4 ply worsted weight yarn (Red, Green)
Crochet hook size H (8-5.00 mm)
Sm amt fiberfill or potpourri

Finishing Materials:
Tapestry needle for ends

Finished Size: apple only = 2 1/2" T
Gauge: Not important to over all size

Skill Level: Medium

Special Stitches:
Dc Dec (yo, insert hook in st indicated, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps) as many times as stated, yo, draw through all lps on hook to complete the st.

Apple:(Using red)

Rnd 1) Ch 4; (4 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 5 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), (3 dc) in joining, dc in next dc, (5 dc) in next dc, dc in last 2 dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 12 dc.

Rnd 3) Ch 3, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) 3 times, (4 dc) in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, (3 dc) in next dc, dc in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 20 dc. Note: push bottom of apple up, into the apple for a more *apple* effect.

Rnd 4)Ch 3, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) twice, dc in next 4 dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) twice, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 29 dc.

Rnd 5) Ch 3; * dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 29 dc.

Rnd 6) Start loosely filling apple cavity with fiberfill or potpourri: ch 3, dc in next dc, (dc dec over next 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc) twice see special sts, dc dec over next 3 dc, dc in next 2 dc, dc dec over next 3 dc, dc in next 3 dc, dc dec over next 2 dc, dc in next dc, dc dec over next 3 dc, dc in last 2 dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 20 dc.

Rnd 7) Ch 3, (dc dec over next 3 dc) twice, dc dec over next 4 dc, (dc dec over next 3 dc) 3 times; join with a sl st to first dc: 6 dc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Leaves: (Using green) Row 1) Join yarn to top of apple with a sl st through both sides of the opening; ch 7; sc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, (dc, hdc, sc) in last ch, sl st in top of apple; rep from * once. Fasten off leaving a 6" tail.

Finishing:

Thread tapestry needle with 6" tail and push through to the bottom of apple, puckering the top a bit, then push back up through the top, puckering and holding the bottom in a bit. Finish off and weave in end.
