2 150-yd 100% cotton thread, size 10 (same or different colors)
Crochet hook size E
2 1-inch Cabone rings

Finished Size: 6" dia
Gauge: 2 rows = 3/4"

Note: Use two strands held together throughout.

Back:

Rnd 1) Join threads to cabone with with a sc; (23 sc) around ring; join with a sl st in first sc: 24 sc.

Rnd 2) Ch 1, sc in joining, ch 3, sk next sc; * sc in next sc, ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 3-sps.

Rnd 3) Sl st in next sp; ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 4; * sc in next sp, ch 4; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 4-sps.

Rnd 4) Sl st in next sp; ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 5; * sc in next sp, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 12 ch 5-sps.

Rnd 5) Sl st in next sp; ch 3 (counts as first dc), (6 dc) in same sp; * (7 dc) in next sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc (3rd ch of beg ch 3): 84 dc.

Rnd 6) Sl st in next dc; ch 3, dc in next 11 dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc; * dc in next 12 dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 72 dc/6 ch 3-sps.

Rnd 7) Sl st in next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, ch 3, leaving last 2 dc unworked, (2 dc, ch 5, 2 dc) in next sp, ch 3, sk next 2 dc; * dc in next 8 dc, ch 3, leaving last 2 dc unworked, (2 dc, ch 5, 2 dc) in next sp, ch 3, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 72 dc/6 ch 5-sps/12 ch 3-sps. Fasten off; secure ends.

Rnd 8) Join thread to any ch 5 sp with a sl st; ch 3, (8 dc) in same sp; * sc in next sp, ch 5, sk next 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 5, sc in next sp, (9 dc) in next ch 5 sp; * rep from * to * once: 35 dc/4 ch 5-sps. Fasten off; secure ends.

Front & Joining:

Rnds 1-8) Rep rnds 1-8 for back. (Do not end off).

Joining Rnd 8) Holding both the front and back together, right sides facing out, matching the partially completed last rnds so they align, sl st in last dc of matching 9-dc group on back piece, working to join both pieces; * sc in next sp, ch 5, sk next 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 5, leaving last 2 dc unworked, sc in next sp, (9 dc) in next sp; rep from * twice, sc in next sp, ch 5, sk next 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 5, leaving last 2 dc unworked, sc in next sp; join with a sl st to first dc (through both pieces): Bottom and sides joined. Fasten off; secure ends.

Handle:

Row 1) Join thread to 4th dc of center 9-dc group at top of opening with a sl st; ch 3, dc in next 2 dc: 3 dc.

Rows 2-18) Ch 3, turn work; dc in next 2 dc: 3 dc.

Row 19) Ch 1, turn work; sl st in first sc and through corresponding 4th dc of center 9 dc group on back piece; sl st in next 2 sts on handle and in next 2 dc in on back piece. Fasten off; secure ends.
