Rnd 1) Ch 14; sc in next 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 10 ch, (5 dc) in last ch, working back up opposite side in free lps of foundation ch, dc in next 10 ch, hdc in next ch, (sc, dc) in last ch; join with a sl st in first sc.

Row 2) Sl st in next 4 sts; ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, (dc, hdc) in same st on leaf, hdc in next st, sc in next 8 sts, (3 sc) in next st, sc in next 8 sts, hdc in next st, (hdc, dc, trc) in next st.

Rnd 1) Starting at bottom: ch 4; 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 ch skipped counts as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 3): 12 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.

Rnd 3) Starting up side: (working in back lps only); ch 3; * dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc.

Rnds 4-6) (Working in both lps); ch 3; * dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 24 dc. Fasten off; secure ends after last rnd.

Turkey Neck: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Join yarn to any front unworked lp on rnd 3 of body with a sl st; ch 3 (2 dc) in joining, dc in next st, (3 dc) in next st: 7 dc.

Row 2) Ch 2, turn work; (2 dc) in first st, dc in next 5 dc, (3 dc) in last st: 11 dc.

Row 3) Ch 2, turn work; dc dec over next 2 dc see special sts (counts as first dc dec over 3 sts), dc in next 5 sts, dc dec over last 3 sts: 7 dc.

Row 4) Ch 2, turn work; dc dec over next 2 dc (counts as first dc dec over 3 sts), dc in next dc, dc dec over last 3 sts: 3 dc.

Row 5) Ch 1, turn work; working to join the last row of neck to last rnd of turkey body; sc in first st and through corresponding dc on last rnd of body, (sc in next st and through next dc on body) twice: 3 sc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Head: (Using cornmeal)

Rnd 1) Ch 4; (10 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 ch skipped count as first dc); working to join head to neck, dc in same ch on head and through center sc on last row of neck; join with a sl st to first dc (3rd ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Wattle: (Using dk red)

Row 1) Join yarn to back lp on bottom center dc of head with a sl st; (ch 1, dc) in same st. Fasten off; secure ends.

Beak: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Join yarn to bottom center dc post of head (above wattle) with a sl st; (ch 1, hdc) over same dc post. Fasten off; secure ends.

Turkey Claws: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Join yarn to next front unworked st on rnd 3 of body (next to neck) with a sl st; (ch 6, sl st in same st) 3 times. Fasten off; secure ends.

Opposite Claw: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Rep row 1 on opposite side of neck.

Left Wing: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Ch 4; (4 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc): 5 dc.

Row 2) Ch 1, turn work; sc in first st, sl st in next 2 dc, (ch 3, 3 dc) in same st, (yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, insert hook in 3rd dc from neck joining on last rnd of turkey body, yo, draw through all lps on hook), (yo, insert hook in next st on wing, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, insert hook in 2nd dc from neck, yo, draw through all lps on hook). Fasten off; secure ends.

Right Wing: (Using cornmeal)

Row 1) Rep row 1 for left wing.

Row 2) Ch 3, turn work; (yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, insert hook opposite side of last rnd of turkey body in 3rd dc from neck, yo, draw through all lps on hook), (4 dc) in next dc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Finishing:

Invert candleholder and place cover (turkey body) over the holder. Turn right side up and pull the sides. Fold coasters (leaves) in half vertically and insert in candleholder for tail feathers. Glue eyes to face as shown in photo.
