Large Star:
Rnd 1) Ch 4; 14 dc in 4th ch from hook; join with a slip st to 4th ch of beg. ch 4: 15 dc.
Row 2) Ch 1, 2 sc in joining, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; ch 1, turn work: 5 sc. (Each point of star is worked off before going to the next point.
Row 3) Sc dec over first 2 sc, (insert hook in first stitch, draw up a loop, insert hook in next st, draw up a loop, yo, draw through last 3 loops on hook to complete the stitch), sc in next sc, sc dec over last 2 sc; ch 1, turn work: 3 sc.
Row 4) Sc dec over first 2 sc, sc in last sc; ch 1, turn work: 2 sc.
Row 5) Sc dec over last 2 sc; ch 1, turn work: 1 sc.
Row 6) (Working down side of point); Evenly slip st down the side; 2 sc in next dc of round 1, sc in next dc, 2 sc in next dc; repeat instructions for row 2 - row 6, until each point has been worked off. There will be 5 points to the star. Fasten off, secure ends. See Finishing techniques below to complete the fridgie.
Small Star:
Ch 5; join with a slip st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1) Ch 1; 15 sc in ring; join with a slip st in first sc: 15 sc.
Row 2) Ch 1, 2 sc in joining, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1, turn work: 5 sc. (Each point of star is worked off before going to the next point.
Rows 3-6) Follow instructions for rows 3-6 above for large star until each point of star has been workd off. There will be 5 points to the star. Fasten off, secure ends.
Finishing:
Glue magnet to the back of star and enjoy! Make 3 stars in various sizes to spatter your fridge in honor of the 4th!
