Sm ball J&P Coats 100% cotton thread, size 10 (French Rose #493)

Sm amt. J&P Coats 100% cotton thread, size 10 (Pastels #465)

Steel crochet hook, size 7 USA

Finishing Materials:

Spray starch (optional)

Iron/ironing board

Finished Size: 6" in dia
Gauge: 2 rnds = 1/2"

Special Stitches:
Beg. v-st: (ch 4, dc) in indicated st.

V-st: (dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st.

Doily:

Rnd 1) With French Rose ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 2) *Ch 5, sc in ring* repeat between * three more times. Join with st to beg. ch 5.

Rnd 3) Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 4 dc in first sp, ch 3, *5 dc in next sp, ch 3* repeat between * two more times. Join with sl st to beg. ch 3. (4 ch-3 grps.).

Rnd 4) Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, 3 dc in next sp, *dc in next 5 dc, 3 dc in next sp* repeat between * two more times. Join with sl st to beg. ch 3. (32 dc).

Rnd 5) Ch 4, dc in same st as joining (beg. v-st made), ch 2, skip next dc, *dc, ch 1, dc in next dc (v-st made) ch 2, skip next dc* repeat between * around; join with sl st to beg. ch 4. (16 v-sts).

Rnd 6) Ch 4, dc in 2nd dc of first v-st (beg. v-st ), ch 3, skip next sp, *dc, ch 1, dc (v-st ) in next v-st, ch 3* repeat * around; join with sl st to beg. ch 4. (16 v-sts).

Rnd 7) Ch 3, dc in 2nd dc of first v-st, 3 dc in next sp, *dc in ea st of next v-st, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp* repeat around & join with sl st to beg. ch 3. (80 dc). Fasten off.

Rnd 8) With Pastels join in any dc of prior round, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, *ch 2, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in next dc* repeat between * around; join with sl st to beg. ch 3. (27 grps of 3 dc).

Rnd 9) Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, *ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc* repeat between * around. Join with sl st to beg. ch 3. (27 grps of 3 dc ).

Rnd 10) Sl st to 2nd dc, work beg v-st (ch 4, dc in same st), *ch 4, skip next ch-2 sp, v-st (dc, ch 1, dc) in 2nd dc of next grp* & join with sl st to beg. ch 4 (27 v-sts).

Rnd 11) Ch 1, 3 sc in ea v-st, 4 sc in ea ch-4 sp around. Fasten off, tuck in all ends.

Finishing:

Spray doily with water, or spray starch and press on the wrong side using a cool iron setting. Doily may be blocked by lightly stretching on a terry towel and left

Spray doily with either water or spray starch. Shape by laying on a terry towel and stretch gently. You may also cover with a handkerchief and press on the wrong side using a cool iron.
