150-yd ball 100% cotton thread, size 10 (White)
Steel crochet hook, size 7 USA (1.65 mm)

Finishing Materials:
Small amount of 1/8" ribbon
Commercial stiffening, glue

Finished Size: 5-1/2" across
Gauge: Not important to over all size

Skill Level: Intermediate

Special Stitches:
Double Treble: (dtr) YO 3 times, insert hook in sp. YO and draw through; 5 lps on hook, yo and draw through 2 lps at a time 4 times.

Triple Treble: (ttr) YO 4 times, insert hook in sp. YO and draw through; 6 lps on hook, yo and draw through 2 lps at a time 5 times.

Instructions: (Make two)

Ch 7; join to form a ring.

Rnd 1) Ch 4, 2 tr, ch 6, * 3 tr, ch 6 * repeat between * three more times. Join with sl st to beg. ch 4. (Five tr groups made).

Rnd 2) Sl st to middle tr of next group, ch 3, dc in same st; ch 3, sc, ch 3 sc, ch 3 in next ch 6 sp. * Dc, ch 1, dc in next tr group; ch 3, sc, ch 3 in next ch 6 sp.* repeat between * three more times. Join with sl st to beg ch 3.

Rnd 3) Ch 4, 2 dtr, 1 ttr, ch 3, 1 ttr, 3 dtr in same sp, ch 3, skip next sp, sc in top of next dc, ch 1, sc in top of next dc, skip next sp, ch 3 *3 dtr, 1 ttr, ch 3, 1 ttr, 3 dtr in same sp, ch 3, skip next sp, sc in top of next dc, ch 1, sc in top of next dc, skip next sp, ch 3 * repeat between * three more times. Join with sl st to beg ch 4. Fasten off & tuck in ends.

Finishing:

With wrong sides together, sc around entire star. For points, sc, ch 2 sc. in same sp.

Stiffen both pieces according to instructions on product. You will need to shape your star as it dries. Be patient as it takes a while to dry, but the results are worth the effort.

Make a bow and hanger. Then glue in place.
