Butterfly: (Using Cream)
Rnd 1) Ch 4; dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 ch skipped counts as first dc), ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1) 7 times in same ch; join with a sl st to 4th ch of beg ch 4: 16 dc/8 ch 1-sps. Fasten off.
Rnd 2) Join lt green to any ch 1 sp with a sl st; ch 1, (sc, 3 dc, sc) in same sp, (sc, 6 dc) in next ch 1 sp, (6 dc, sc) in next ch 1 sp, [(sc, 3 dc, sc) in next ch 1 sp] twice (mark 2nd sc on first sm scallop), (sc, 6 dc) in next ch 1 sp, (6 dc, sc) in next ch 1 sp, (sc, 3 dc, sc) in last ch 1 sp; join with a sl st in first sc (mark st): 4 lg scallops/4 sm scallops. Fasten off; secure all ends.
Joining & Edging: (Using black)
Rnd 1) Working one side of wing: fold butterfly in half matching sm scallops to sm scallops and large scallops to large scallops. The large scallops should be at the top of your fold. Join yarn to joining (marked st) and through opposite side of butterfly in corresponding sc (marked st) with a sl st; ch 1, sc in joining through both sides, sc in next 2 sts through both sides, ch 4, sl st in top of last sc made, sc in same st, working around one side of wing; * sc in next st; rep from * around; join with a sl st in corresponding sc : 1 side of wing complete. Fasten off; secure ends.
Opposite Wing: (Using black)
Rnd 1) Turn butterfly over and join yarn to center sc at bottom of butterfly through both sides (next to edging) with a sl st; rep instructions for first side of wing.
Antennas: (Using black)
Ch 10: Fasten off; secure ends. Fold antennas in half and slip the fold inside the beginning rnd at top of butterfly. If desired a dab of glue can be applied to secure.
