Butterfly:
Ch 6; join with a slip st in first chain to form a circle.
Rnd 1) Ch 4; (dc, ch 1) 11 times in ring; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4: 12 dc/12 ch 1 sps.
Rnd 2) Sl st in next sp; Beg double shell in same sp see special sts, ch 2, sk next sp, sc in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, double shell in next sp see special sts), sk next 2 sps, double shell in next sp, ch 2, sk next sp, sc in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, double shell in next sp, sk last 2 sps; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3: 4 double shells.
Row 3) Working off each wing separately: sl st in next ch 2 sp of double shell; beg shell in same sp see special sts, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell see special sts.: 2 shells/1 ch 3-sp.

Row 3) Join thread to next unworked double shell sp from last shell worked on row 3 with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell.
Row 4-12) Rep rows 4-12 for large wing.
First Small Wing:
Row 3) Join thread to next unworked double shell sp from last shell worked on row 3 with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell: 2 shells/1 ch 3-sp.
Row 4) Rep row 4 for large wing.
Row 5) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, ch 2, sk next ch 2 sp, trc in next sp (center sp), (ch 1, trc) 3 times in same sp, ch 2, shell in last shell sp: 2 shells/1 beg pineapple.
Row 6) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, ch 2, sc in next ch 1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 sp) twice, ch 2, shell in last shell sp: 2 shells/1 beg pineapple with 2 ch 3-lps.

Second Small Wing:
Row 3) With wrong side facing, join thread to next unworked double shell sp on row 3 with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell.
Rows 4-10) Rep rows 4-10 for small wing.
Antennas:
Join thread to center sc between large wings; * ch 14; sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sl st in same sc; rep from * once. Fasten off, secure ends
Finishing:
Cover preferred work surface with plastic wrap. Dip butterfly in stiffening solution and gently squeeze excess being careful not to twist or wring the piece. Shape on prepared surface ensuring wings are even and shape antennas, use pins to secure if needed. Let dry. Remove from surface and glue silk flowers where desired.
