Two right images compliments of Lily of Fort Bragg, CA; she writes: "Thanks for the free patterns. I just completed my first vintage doilie. It is the one with the sunflower. I am going to make it into a pillow. I learned alot from this pattern. I am going to send you another email with a pic. Thanks again! It is a beautiful doily and very challenging to me. I love it!"

Materials:
1 ball J&P Coats "Knit Cro-Sheen", No. 42 (Cream)
1 ball J&P Coats "Knit Cro-Sheen", No. 131 (Fudge Brown)
1 ball J&P Coats "Knit Cro-Sheen", No. 19 (Shaded Yellows)
Steel crochet hook, size 7

Special Note: This pattern is from Coats and Clark's Doilies, Book No. 136. A dc cluster is referred to as a joint dc.

Finished Size: 15 1/2" in dia.

Doily Center
Starting at center with Brown, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Join to first sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, (3 dc in next sc, sc in next sc) 5 times; 3 dc in next sc. Join as before.

3rd rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, (ch 2, holding petals forward, sc in next sc) 5 times; ch 2. Join.

4th rnd: Sl st in first sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch 3 and draw dropped loop through (starting pc st made); * ch 3, 4 dc in next sc, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc of 4 dc group and draw dropped loop through (pc st made), ch 3, pc st in next sp. Repeat from * around; ending with ch 3. Join to top of first pc st (11 pc sts).

5th rnd: Ch 1, in each sp between pc sts make sc, 3 dc and sc. Join to first sc.

6th rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, * ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last sc. Join as before.

7th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in next loop, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join (22 sps.)

8th rnd: In first sp, make sl st and starting pc st, ch 3, * pc st in next sp, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join to top of first pc st.

9th-10 rnds: Repeat 5th and 6th rnds respectively.

11th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc to form last loop.

12th rnd: ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * in next loop made dc, 3 tr and dc, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off and fasten.

Petals:
13th rnd: Attach Yellow in last joining, ch 1, insert hook in loop directly below, thread over and complete an sc, ch 5, * holding petal forward, insert hook in loop directly below next sc and complete an sc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join last ch 5 to first sc.

14th rnd: Sl st in next loop, ch 3, 4 dc in same loop (petal started), make 5 dc in each loop around. Join to top of ch 3 (22 petals started).

15th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, * dc in next 5 dc, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch 3.

16th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 1, pc st in next dc, ch 1, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with dc in last dc, ch 2. Join to top of ch 3.

17th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * dc in next ch 1 space, ch 1, pc st in first dc of next pc st, (pc st over pc st made), ch 1, dc in next ch 1 sp, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. End and join as on 16 th rnd.

18th-19th rnds: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, pc st over next pc st, ch 1, dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, dc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. End and join as on 16th rnd.

20th rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining, * dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, pc st over next pc st, ch 1, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Ending with 2 dc in last dc, ch 2. Join.

Now work in short rows as follows: ch 3.

First Point:

Next 3 Points: Repeat First Point.

Fifth Point:

Next 17 Points: Repeat Fifth Point once; then First Point 3 times; Fifth Point twice; First Point 4 times; Fifth Point twice; First Point 3 times and Fifth Point twice, ending last point with ch 2. Join to top of ch 3 at beg of first row on First Point. Break off and fasten.

Edging:
21st rnd: Attach Cream to tip of last point made and continue to work in rnds. Ch 1, sc in same place, * working along left ege of same point, ch 5, sc in the end st at beg of 4th row, ch 5, dc in next ch 2 sp between points, ch 5, working along right edge of next point, sc in the end st at end of 4th row, ch 5, in tip of point make sc, ch 7 and sc. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in same place as first sc was made, ch 3, tr in first sc to form last loop.

22nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, * ch 9, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, skip next loop, tr in each of next 2 loops, thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 9, skip next loop, sc in next ch 7 loop. Repat from * around. Join last ch 9 to first sc.

23rd rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, * ch 17, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 14, dc in first sc to form last loop.

24th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, ch 5, * sc in next sc, ch 5, in next loop make (sc, ch 5) 6 times. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in next sc, ch 5, in first loop used make (sc, ch 5) 4 times and sc; ch 2, dc in first sc.

25th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, * ch 3, sc in each of next 2 loops, ch 3, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 4 times. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.

26th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, * ch 4, sc in each of next 2 loops, ch 4, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around, ending as on 25th rnd.

27th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, * ch 13, skip next 2 loops, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around, ending as before. Join.

28th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop, ch 5, * in next loop make (sc, ch 5) 5 times; (sc in next loop, ch 5) twice. Repeat from * around, ending as before. Join.

29th rnd: Ch 5, tr in next loop, * (ch 2, dc in next loop) 4 times; (ch 2, tr in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2. Join to 4th ch of ch 6.

30th rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, * skip next 2 ch, in next st make 2 dc, ch 5 and 2 dc skip next 2 ch, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join last dc to first sc. Break off and fasten.
