Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Where does the time go? Rignt now I seem to be embroiled in work and projects and wonder if I can see myself through! With so much of our family living in other towns and states means shipping their Christmas to them before Thanksgiving, if not right after. Am I ready? NO! Many of my gifts involve crocheting goodies - and they are expected. The Ice Crystals Decorative Fan will make a nice gift for my mom but I also want to design another angel. She loves angels and has requested them specifically in the past. Just finding time for the angel may be a challenge - especially with Thanksgiving a few days away.

In the meantime I have one sock completed for my dad and the mate started. But they look big - I’m wondering if I goofed on the hook size this year. I sure hope not! My mother-in-law just may get a home-made fruit basket. Actually I wouldn’t mind having one of these myself! :-)

I also need to make some quick breads, cookies and a dessert to take with us to my parents. Since they don’t get much goodies anymore, I like to stock their freezer with these sweets to last them throughout the holidays. I’m not quite sure what to make this year but always on the list are oatmeal and peanut butter cookies.

A shopping trip is in order and I’d prefer to go before Black Friday and sometime during the week. Bath and Body Works for my daughter-in-law with a bag of Christmas blend Starbuck’s coffee - who wouldn’t want to get up Christmas morning to those! Add a good romance mystery to the lot and I might consider quitting business to indulge myself!

As for everyone, lots to do and so little time to do it!

Customer Photos…

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

As always, I enjoy showing off customer photos that are submitted. I’ve been a bit neglectful lately and hope I can remember everything that was sent in! Yikes!

Jewel writes: “Here are some pictures of my latest projects. I enjoyed making all the projects. another crinoline girl done and 8 more to go. LOL I wanted the placemats to display my Christmas candles. I hope to start decorating for Christmas soon.”

Jewel writes: “I am working on your poinsettia doily also. I am pleased with the way it is turning out. Thanks again for all the great patterns.

Sherrie writes: “A couple of years ago after hearing many times; ‘I wish I could crochet, but I have no one to teach me’ my husband bought me a book. I sat down each evening and practiced and the next Christmas it was afghans for everyone on my list. This year they all got doilies and table runners.”

Website navigation…

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Today while I’m working on a new Christmas runner - one in yarn, I’m rethinking some of the navigation on the site. Patterns with individual pages containing more info are set up so the link is at the bottom of the thumbnail with the pattern name and “details.” I’m trying to rephrase that so it’s more readily seen. Should I put something like; “Product information…” “Click here for details,” “For more information on this product…” I know I’m making this more difficult than it needs to be. Suggestions please!

The Crochet Corner is ready…

Reindeer Runner…

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Okay, I FINALLY have a picture! :-)

Christmas Eve Ride Runner

The pattern will be available on the 15-16th. It’s worked in size 20 thread and really, the filet portion was fun but because I’m not as excited over sewing, the backin wasn’t. But this piece can be worked without the backing and lighting and would look nice hung or framed too.

It’s Friday - and posting new customer pics!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I always love posting (and boasting) new customer photos. And these are no exception…

Custom Wedding Doily
Louise writes: “Here ia a pic of the doily for the anniversary. I made arm doilies to go with it!”

Louise used her anniversary doily as an antimassacar and worked up matching arm rests!

Ms Poppy Crinoline Girl Doily
Shirley writes: “Here’s another one for you. This is your Ms Poppy Crinoline that I changed into Ms Poinsettia Crinoline. Made with Red, Green, White and Metallic Gold!! Thanks for another beauty of a pattern!! I have enjoyed making these very much, now don’t want to go back to making regular doilies!!”

Morning Glory Crinoline Girl Doily
Shirley writes: “Here is your Ms Morning Glory worked in Christmas colors. She has your little basket full of Poinsettias! Made with White, Red, Myrtle Green, Basket & center of flowers is Metallic Gold. I worked the edge in your Rays Of Hope doily pattern. She was FUN to make, too!!”

Don’t forget to check out the other new photos for Ms Morning Glory Crinoline sent in by other customers!

Today we have plans for reshooting the reindeer runner and once I have a good picture, I’ll post it on the blog along with other pictures of patterns that will be available soon!

It’s been awhile…

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

since I last posted on the blog. Between deadlines, appts. and company, I’ve been pretty busy. The runner was completed at least a week ago but getting the fabric backing sewn and working has been a whole other story. The good thing about this runner is it can be worked up as is and is quite nice. It’s just when you envision something, you want to see it through! :-)

The crinoline circle will take some time and I didn’t want to rush this project either so I designed another Christmas placemat I’ll be posting in the next newsletter. It’s already finished and tested!

New customer photos and crochet

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Procrastination seems to be my middle name at times. This is one of those times. I’m putting off sewing up the fabric backing for the Christmas runner. At one time I enjoyed sewing and even made school clothes for the kids until it was no longer “kewl.” I had great satisfaction in sewing shirts with embroidered yokes for my dad’s Christmas and birthdays. But I can’t say I loved to sew, not like crochet!

So today I’m playing with an idea for another crinoline circle doily for Christmas. I can’t figure out exactly what I want - not quite visioning this piece in its entirety. But it’s not stopping me from playing with the components I can envision. :-)

Last night we broke open a new jigsaw puzzle and everytime I go upstairs, I find myself stopping long enough to find a few pieces. If I can’t read one of my romantic suspence novels - this is the next best thing. Outside of crocheting that is!

I have to brag on so many wonderful customer photos that have been pouring in! Here they are:

Rays of Hope Doily Shirley writes: “Here’s a picture of my Rays Of Hope Doily made with the Pumpkin Orange thread. I’m so proud of it, I think it turned out so pretty! Want to make it in different colors now! It is a beautiful pattern and so easy to make. Thanks again Cylinda!!”

Circle of Hope Crinoline DoilyShirley writes: “Hi Cylinda!! Here is a picture of my Christmas Crinoline Girls!! Hope you like it! I enjoyed making these so much. Don’t know if I want to sell it or not. I want to keep it but also want someone else to enjoy this Cutie!! Thank you so much for another beautiful pattern.”

Ms Mum Crinoline Girl Doily Shirley writes: “Want you to take a look at this BEAUTY!! Your Ms Mum Crinoline! I just love her. I think this is one of the prettiest Crinoline patterns you have designed! Oh, I enjoyed working on this so much. Thanks again for another beauty. I used Cream, Brown and Melon Orange on this one!”
