Tuesday, November 17th, 2009As always, I enjoy showing off customer photos that are submitted. I’ve been a bit neglectful lately and hope I can remember everything that was sent in! Yikes!
Jewel writes: “Here are some pictures of my latest projects. I enjoyed making all the projects. another crinoline girl done and 8 more to go. LOL I wanted the placemats to display my Christmas candles. I hope to start decorating for Christmas soon.”

I sat down each evening and practiced and the next Christmas it was afghans for everyone on my list. This year they all got doilies and table runners.”

Louise writes: “Here ia a pic of the doily for the anniversary. I made arm doilies to go with it!”
Louise used her anniversary doily as an antimassacar and worked up matching arm rests!
Shirley writes: “Here’s another one for you. This is your Ms Poppy Crinoline that I changed into Ms Poinsettia Crinoline. Made with Red, Green, White and Metallic Gold!! Thanks for another beauty of a pattern!! I have enjoyed making these very much, now don’t want to go back to making regular doilies!!”
Shirley writes: “Here is your Ms Morning Glory worked in Christmas colors. She has your little basket full of Poinsettias! Made with White, Red, Myrtle Green, Basket & center of flowers is Metallic Gold. I worked the edge in your Rays Of Hope doily pattern. She was FUN to make, too!!”

It’s been awhile…
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009since I last posted on the blog. Between deadlines, appts. and company, I’ve been pretty busy. The runner was completed at least a week ago but getting the fabric backing sewn and working has been a whole other story. The good thing about this runner is it can be worked up as is and is quite nice. It’s just when you envision something, you want to see it through!
The crinoline circle will take some time and I didn’t want to rush this project either so I designed another Christmas placemat I’ll be posting in the next newsletter. It’s already finished and tested!
New customer photos and crochet
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Procrastination seems to be my middle name at times. This is one of those times. I’m putting off sewing up the fabric backing for the Christmas runner. At one time I enjoyed sewing and even made school clothes for the kids until it was no longer “kewl.” I had great satisfaction in sewing shirts with embroidered yokes for my dad’s Christmas and birthdays. But I can’t say I loved to sew, not like crochet!
So today I’m playing with an idea for another crinoline circle doily for Christmas. I can’t figure out exactly what I want - not quite visioning this piece in its entirety. But it’s not stopping me from playing with the components I can envision.
Last night we broke open a new jigsaw puzzle and everytime I go upstairs, I find myself stopping long enough to find a few pieces. If I can’t read one of my romantic suspence novels - this is the next best thing. Outside of crocheting that is!

Pineapple Doily No 7714
This vintage doily has been updated to modern language, has a size 12 font, two columns, stitch counts, and a color photo. Worked in size 10 it includes finished sizes for both size 10 and the original size 20 thread called for in the instructions. It’s so pretty!
Pineapple Lace Christmas Tissue Cover
This pretty Victorian style boutique tissue cover matches our Pineapple Lace Christmas Stocking. The cover is worked in yarn and then trimmed with a thread lace top worked in pineapples and pearls!
‘Best Friend’ Bone-Shaped Christmas Stocking

Friday, October 16th, 2009The newsletter’s been published and it’s time to relax - for a bit! I’m so glad it’s Friday and the weather is just lovely. In fact, once I finish a few household chores I plan to head outside to crochet.
I picked up Christmas lights on Thursday after my orthodontist appt and this afternoon will play around with the Christmas runner to see if these lights will work. On Sunday, I’ll buy my fabric for the backing and start assembling the runner once I sew the backing. I can’t wait to see the final results as I’ve been working on this piece for awhile between other designs.
I know almost everyone receives Terry’s Village catalogs. In looking through this little catalog I came across a fabric runner I thought was really cute. Of course my mind takes off and I can’t help but wonder what something like this would look like crocheted? I just might have to find out.

Sherrie writes: “I just completed the new vintage doily. I was going to give it as a birthday gift however, as you can see it fits my end table very nicely and I think that is were it is going to stay. Mine turned out to be 22 and 1/2 inches across since I used a size 5 hook. I am really looking forward to more vintage patterns. Thanks so much!”

Friday, October 9th, 2009Thank goodness its Friday and the end to the “normal” work week. Of course I work weekends too, but it’s more relaxed and I try to take Sundays off to a degree.
Today I plan to get started on my next Christmas project (one for your “best friend” pet) and plan to continue working on the Christmas runner. I decided with the runner to combine it with a fabric backing which means I need to buy some of that fabric tape (if that’s what it’s called). I no longer have a sewing machine. It’s either hand sewing, buying fabric tape, or pulling my antique tredle out and relearning to thread it. I learned once - it’s a spindle bobbin and a wonderful piece but where I have it now, the furniture is angled in a corner so I can’t open the top. It might be fun playing with it again, but it’d have to be soon!
