Crochet really does play a large role in my Christmas decorating. The other night while sitting around enjoying the ambience amid a hectic schedule and recent computer loss, I realized…
…that most of my decorations are crocheted! Here are some fun ways to decorate and, well, have fun crocheting them in the process.
Christmas stockings are not just for hanging on the mantle. What happens if you don’t have one anyway? I love, LOVE Christmas stockings. I just think they are so pretty, festive and fun hanging just about everywhere. In the picture above, I opened the outer doors on the hutch top and used those plastic sticky holders they advertise, to hold four stockings (two per door). They make my dining room so festive!
On the photo below, I like to hang even more stockings on the secretary. This really isn’t an antique but a replica. Anyway, I think they make the secretary Christmassy and by adding other crocheted pieces to the desk with store bought decorations, it just sets the stage! From left to right, you can find the free pattern for the Victorian Lace Christmas Stocking, here, the Gingham Gingerbread Stocking, here, Ye Old Christmas Stocking, here, and the Holly Leaf Striped Stocking, here! You can find the Poinsettia Pineapple Runner pattern, here!
Back to the hutch, you’ll notice the snowman luminary. It’s actually a free pattern, right here on the blog. So grab your hook and yarn… that little bit of illumination just brings the hutch to life. And lest I forget, the Christmas stockings hanging on the hutch top can be found here!
You can also hang stockings on banisters, door knobs, knobs anywhere practically and I even have a miniature store bought stocking hanging from the knob of a drawer on a smaller table in the dining area.
Hey, don’t forget, you can also hang something other things than stockings from the mantle; like door hangers for instance. Our Gingerbread Man Door Hanger, Sleepy Santa Hanger, Ms Frosty Door Hanger, Christmas Polar Bear Door Hanger and Angelic Door Hanger on our site, would all look adorable hanging from the mantle!
I wonder how much fun it would be to use an existing pillow pattern and stitch a stocking to it… hmmm, I just might have to design one for next year.
Last but not least, you’ll love how pretty the Shades of Winter Collection (runner) will look on your dining table! And I don’t want to forget, but the little bag with candy canes woven through, is another free pattern found right here on the blog!
