There are so many wonderful ways to display crochet but one of my favorites is “doubling” up! All rules are meant to be broken right? In my book, if you like the way it looks, then that’s all that counts!
I often like the look of two doilies doubled up. As in the above photo. The bottom doily is our Pinwheel Delight Doily and sitting atop it is our Irish Rose Doily, a beautiful vintage design that boasts beautiful flowers in Irish crochet. I just love how the bottom doily with it’s textured border brings out the beauty of the Irish crochet rose doily!
The Pretty N Pink Doily, a vintage design with an airy chain ruffle, is one I updated to modern terms. It’s beautiful sitting atop our lovely Country Gingham Runner – one of my personal favorites. I just love filet and this table runner incorporates spider web stitches at each tip for a lovely transition for a runner you’ll be proud to display.
At first look you probably think the large chain ruffled doily is just one piece. But actually it’s the African Violet Ruffle Doily with Mom’s Rose Lattice Doily placed in the center. They really compliment each other so well too! And did I mention that 50% of the proceeds for the center doily goes toward Alzheimer’s research?
The Sweetheart Table Topper is a lovely piece to accent round tables, or even old dressers as I’ve done. It’s a beautiful piece in and of itself but when paired with our Pineapple and Roses Doily, it just gets better!
Our Easter display has the Bunny Hop Runner (I just love the bunny prints across the top) with crocheted eggs; Pineapple Panorama Easter Egg, Decorative Shell Easter Egg, and Petite Pineapple Panorama Easter Egg, a free pattern on the blog. Each of these wonderful little egg designs boast peepholes for nestling a scene inside. How cool is that! The smallest egg is one I designed years back but never published – sorry!
Sometimes you don’t need to double up to have double the pleasure, it’s switching up and changing the “usual” way one would display a piece. Our Reindeer Runner, Christmas Eve Ride Runner captures the magic of Christmas with a merry scene displayed as a backdrop on the inside or our hutch. This runner won best table setting for 2015 for the Crochet Awards! Below I’ve placed the Sunburst Suncatcher behind a crocheted braided wreath to lend texture and fun and then placed both inside a cranberry wreath.
