Most everyone loves the glitter, the sparkle, the Christmas tree, beautifully wrapped gifts and the allure of sweets during the holiday season.
But I find I spend time in trying to make everything perfect and make things “of” the season, most important, instead of the “reason” for the season.
I can fixate on the tree, the homemade goodies, getting the house decorated, gifts I plan to give etc, but if I don’t focus on Jesus, I miss the very best.
During a time when it’s super busy and schedules are over running, not with blessings, but appointments and just doing, it’s time to stop the madness. Schedules won’t go away, last minute gifts will still pop up, another cookie recipe will vie for our attention, events and parties will be still be planned, but I’m going to take this last week of Christmas and let the small things go. And chances are nobody will notice if the floors need swept, if there are a few dishes in the sink, if I don’t bake those special cookies, or if I don’t do last minute dusting. Instead of being frazzled, I’d rather be dazzled; dazzled by the reason for Christmas – a savior is born this day…
Merry Christmas; my prayer is that each of you will be blessed beyond your expectations.
Luke 2:11 “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
