Dear Friends,
There are times I sit down to write up something for the newsletter and am at a loss as to what to write! I find myself short on time with this particular newsletter because this past month we went on vacation. Well actually we did a "staycation" to save on money and prevent complications derived in the preparation of leaving for a week. But even with promises to do minimal work, one always invariably does more work than planned. After a mere 5 days last year in the turmoil of 2010, we really needed the down time.
With a surplus of pattern packs on hand, I thought it might be nice to feature a new pattern pack each month and offer these patterns at a reduce rate. Be sure to order from the newsletter because this pattern pack is not available on our magazines pages.
This pattern pack includes 3 decorative fan patterns valued at $12.75 for only $7.25! Patterns include:
Petite Lacy Fan
Victorian Double Pineapple Fan
Victorian Lace Fan.

Our newest patterns are featured to the left! They include:
Trio of Dresser Doilies:
These cute crochet oval doilies will accent your home in style! Worked in red, white, and blue, they are an adorable decorative item for the 4th. Another lovely design by Betty Stevens, and one I knew was perfect for the site. Worked in pretty shells, I'm sure you'll enjoy how easy they are to work up.
Hallowed Pineapple Seraph:
The idea for this angel came to me from a catalog I received. It portrayed a glass or acrylic angel where the skirt was twisted and I immediately thought how beautiful that would be worked up in crochet. But figuring out exactly how I could get that look did a bit of doing until I thought of working pineapple panels, separate from one another. Then when shaping the angel, I twisted the panels and pinned in place - each one overlapping the previous, at the top. In naming her it occurred to me that seraphim is plural for seraph - one of my other angels is named Royal Pineapple Seraphim - oops! I hope you like her too!
Whimsical Lace Keepsake Apothecary:
I hate to even think how long ago it was I started this design. A friend of my parents sent me a crocheted apothecary I drooled over, but was perplexed in how it was molded. I tried several things but nothing measured up in my opinion. While cleaning the supply closet this past weekend I found the piece I had designed and decided it was time to revamp. Not only did I rework the bottom but the lid too. I think all along I was making this too difficult when it didn't need to be! And what fun would a project be if I couldn't come up with a sentence for a name?!? LOL

Angela writes: "I thought I would send you the photo of the butterfly doily without the butterflies...it looks lovely actually in person. I kept the edge simple as you can see."
Sherrie writes: "I have just finished the Cuddle Up Baby blanket. I just love how it turned out! This is such an easy pattern to make. The blanket is so soft and snuggly. I opted to add a simple shell border around the edge using baby variegated."
Dovy writes: "I finally made the leprechaun pants. I had to use bedspread cotton number 10 and use two strands of thread at the same time. I was unable to find Knit Cro Sheen in my area. I also had trouble finding a substitute in the right color, so this seemed to work. It gave the item the weight it needed and the bulkiness. I did not make the edge around the bottom of the legs, but I did work the eyelet row and wove a crocheted piece through this row. I used DMC floss number 5 in color 742 (gold) and crocheted the belt directions only shorter."
Sheila writes: "I wanted to get this photo off to you immediately after taking it so I would not forget! As you can see the star placemats turned out beautiful! I made 2 of each, so quick to crochet. Right now I am crocheting dishcloths to match! Our new neighbors will be extremely pleased. Thanks so much for a great new addition to my growing pattern folder!"
Debra writes: "I wanted to send you some pictures of the wedding items I made. On the bells I took your pattern and made it bigger for one set to go in between the smaller ones. They came out very pretty and your patterns were so easy to make!"
Cyndi writes about our Rose Garden Crinoline Girl Doily: "I adore the pattern and I'm almost done actually. It is very well written and easy to follow. Thank you so much for all of the beautiful patterns that you have offered over the years. I have made several of your free ones, but I've really wanted to make a Crinoline lady and yours was beautiful, but reasonably priced. Who better to buy a pattern from? Thank you again!"
Angela writes: "Also I wanted to resend the last doily photo of the Victorian motif doily...I have since added a simple edge to it in the primary colour which I think looks much better."
Betty writes about our Clustered Elegance Clotheshanger and Matching Sachet: "Hi Cylinda -- How nice of you to respond to me -- even for such a small purchase -- good customer contact. I am looking for crochet projects -- possibly for future gifts -- since my husband is at home on long time recovering from surgeries -- so we have a lot of stay at home time. I thought these would be easy to work on for short periods of time. Also, appreciated being able to download as opposed to having to wait for the mail."
