Mom's Pineapple Hat

Pineapples, shells and lacets create a wonderful combination for this lovely crochet hat. A gift that says it all! Trim with silk flowers, ribbons and lace. This project is sculpted using either a commercial stiffener or a home made solution. For shaping you'll need Styrofoam ball, 5” in dia; cut in half for the crown. To complete, you'll need ½-yd flat lace, silk flowers, ½-yd ribbon, and 2 sm polyester roses, or your own preference of embellishments.

Medium: #10 cotton thread

Hook size: Steel crochet hook size 8

Sonia writes: "As promised I have attached 2 photos of the hat I will be gifting to my friend when she undergoes chemo. I used mercerized cotton and a larger crochet hook, can't remember now what size! I have stiffened only the brim. I am going to attempt to do another one as I would like to include the pineapple pattern on the brim as well. I will let you know how it goes. My friend likes sunflowers so I attached those to the side and also trimmed with lace. I loved the pattern. It is beautiful and very nice clear directions."
